Urban announces party switch - News - Citizens Voice

One of the very first politicians I met during my tenure as a student activist at the University of Scranton was Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban.  As a conservative and a Republican I appreciated the hard work that the man had put in as a Republican in a very liberal part of the state.  I had the opportunity to meet Commissioner Urban during the Veterans For Change Rally at Nay Aug Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

I was overwhelmed by his personal nature and the way he treated me.  I was proud to go volunteer my time toward his election bid in the 14th District of Pennsylvania's State Senate.  This is why I was so dismayed at Urban's decision to switch his political party.  He had been through the political trenches with the Republican Party and the party did not turn it's back on him.

I am highly disappointed by his decision and feel as though I have been betrayed as has my political party.  If your views can be described as "I am pro-life and pro-gun and continue to be pro-life and pro-gun" and those views are best represented by the Republican Party which you have been a noble part of for quite some time why would you switch sir?

I am left shaking my head in disgust.

Thank you to The Citizens Voice and Michael Buffer for the story.
